    • ANCESTRAL REFORESTATION

      BORUCA, COSTA RICA

      $500 of $30,000

Ulises Lázaro Morales has been a craftsman for more than 4 decades and has been working in tourism for 7 years. His land
is located in the Boruca indigenous territory which was mostly deforested during the 1950's-70's.

Don Ulises has 5 hectares of land he wishes to reforest, with native, endemic species and those that are useful for the crafts of their community. This will also be the area surrounding the cosmic ranch, where Ulises shares the traditions of the Boruca ancestral culture.

This project will also encourage participation of the younger generation Boruca, to learn, educate and preserve their knowledge on the use and benefit of medicinal species.

To reforest this area requires the build of a small nursery, the purchase of sapling trees and maintenance of the planted trees for a minimum of 3 years.
