      • SON DE AYAWASKA MUSIC PROJECT

        SHIPIBO-KONIBO, PERU

        broken image

        $0 of $5500

Son de Ayawaska is an intercultural band of Shipibo Konibo origin that originates from the region of Ucayali (Peru) 14 kilometers from the city of Pucallpa de cumbia masha in the native community of San Francisco, capital of the Shipibo indigenous people.

On November 28, 2018, the name of the group was created from a sacred plant called Ayahuasca, which for the Shipibo means ‘knowledge’ and is a medicinal plant used by wise shamans for healing. Through taking this plant, young Shipibo are inspired to sing and begin to produce icaro songs.

The band Son De Ayawaska has few instruments and those that exist are already many years old, and have already become split and warped. The group requests support with the purchase of musical instruments to continue developing the artistic skills of the indigenous youth and with their musical shows, bringing joy to society with their Amazonian music.
